We wanted a new series to watch and as soon as I saw Hannah
had a tour for the companion novels I knew I had to sign-up. I don`t normally
obsess over watching TV-shows because I’m normally reading but reign is my
weakness. The past two weeks we have watch 1-2 episodes a night when Brian gets
home from work. We sit down for our “Reigny”
nights (please forgive the pun Brian requested it get added in here)
I received the two companion novels in exchange for writing
an honest review and this binge-watching post. Because we only had time to
finish one season I only was able to read book 1 as well. Although do not
despair for I will be back the beginning of March with a review of Season 2 and
Book 2. Reign will Continue.
Initial Thoughts
y
Why are there no French or Scottish accents? I
understand Mary not having one because of growing up in a convent but come on I
need me some sexy Scots.
y
Francis you are the definition of teenage angst
for goodness sake admit your feelings and move on.
y
Catherine is portrayed so well for her evil
character.
Season One Thoughts
y
Francis for the love of god keep it in your
pants man.
y
So the king goes crazy and instantly starts
liking some kinky stuff….hmm I think he liked it before but was able to get
away with it more now.
y
Bash my dear Bash, I might not have paired you
up with Mary but you did know how to bring a girl out of her comfort zone.
y
Greer became so obsessed with having to marry
higher that she forgot it was also okay to look for love as well.
y
Mary is just so full of “My-way or The Highway”
options. Although she steps up royally near the end. #ScotParty for the Win
The Books:
So again because I only had time to watch Season One I will
only be giving my thoughts about book one. I am so grateful to have been chosen
for this book tour.

(Found on Goodreads[ pieced apart to not spoil])

know that someone using the secret tunnels may bring the threat inside.
Mary worries that those she loves--her husband Francis, and friends Lola, Bash, and Kenna--remain stranded beyond the gates

Cover:
This cover even though I am not a cover model
fan is brilliant. Both Book 1 & 2 have the regal theme that the show
offers.
Plot:
To not spoil anything for new fans of the
show just for sure pick this up if you want some juicy tidbits before watching
season two. The plot is full of drama and deception just like I imagine the
court would have been.
Characters:
Reading about characters that I can put an
actor or actress`s face to and read in that voice is very different than what I
am use to. Mary still grinds on me like in the show with her huge ultimatums
and snap judgement calls. It is wonderful to have a different form to read
about everyone in.
Binge-Watching Newbies
Snackage: I also love me some snackage from the amazing people over at Graze.com. They have healthy snack options but also sweet treats. Their lemon drizzle bars are to die for.
Drinkage: If I`m looking for something to just relax during lunch time watching it would have to be Cream Soda. If its dinner time watching I`ll either be found with a Mike`s hard strawberry lemonade or a mudslide.
Seatage: We own a 7ft long bean bag couch that is very similar to the LoveSac however a much better deal. Its comfy and relaxing. Soft couches allow for maximum relaxation.
It
is important when full on binge watching to take breaks and not strain your
eyes. Brian and I only did 2 episodes a night so it wasn’t full-on sitting and
binging a show but for me it was enough. We always tended to stop on an episode
that left more drama.

What movie or TV series have binged lately?
TTFN,
Ashley
I need to seriously start watching this show! It sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about binge watching this show ... I tried watching it weekly but I would miss a show and then I'd be confused =/
ReplyDeleteBinging seems to be the best way to watch a series
