Release Date: October 20, 2015
Pages: 400
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Formats: Hardcover,

Goodreads/Amazon/Barnes & Noble/iBooks

Synopsis: (Found on Goodreads):

Code Name Verity meets Inglourious Basterds in this fast-paced novel from the author of The
Walled City.
The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule the world. To
commemorate their Great Victory over Britain and Russia, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the
Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents.
The victor is awarded an
audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor's ball.
Yael, who escaped from a death camp, has one goal: Win the race and kill Hitler.
 A survivor of
painful human experimentation, Yael has the power to skinshift and must complete her mission
by impersonating last year's only female victor, Adele Wolfe. This deception becomes more
difficult when Felix, Adele twin's brother, and Luka, her former love interest, enter the race and
watch Yael's every move.
But as Yael begins to get closer to the other competitors, can she bring
herself to be as ruthless as she needs to be to avoid discovery and complete her mission?

My Review:
I received this copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest opinion. This in no way influenced my review.

Cover: 5/5
This cover is just great. This fits the title perfectly as well as the content. Yael pretends to be Adele Wolfe so that makes Wolf by Wolf more understandable.

Characters: 3.5/5
Yael: She is strong and has a reason behind ever choice she makes. Her story is something she might not have asked for but she owns every minute of it. Yael doesn't have time to engage in romance when she is trying to stop a monster and save the lives of so many people.

Felix: Adele`s twin brother (the racer Yael is pretending to be) sooner or later will catch on that his sister really isn`t his sister. Felix is acting like the older brother by protecting “Adele” from Luka because of a past event that we know nothing about.

Luka: Proves to be such an interesting character. He is the type of guy you either like him instantly or want to punch him in the face. At this point I just want book 2 so I can judge him more. J

Plot: 4/5
The plot for me is the only reason I requested this book. I love reading about WW2 even if it is an alternate version of real life events. Reading the synopsis I was a little put off about the shape shifter concept but Ryan doesn’t write a typical shapeshifter, she writes about skin shifters. Yael is just that, she can after studying a person take on their appearances. In Wolf by Wolf this allows her to shift into the only female racer.

Overall Rating: 4/5
This is not just an epic motorcycle race across two continents full of vicious victors and betrayal you get flashbacks from Yael's childhood in the death camp as well. If you like historical fiction, World War II, or epic motorcycle races, this might be the book for you.

Goodies:
8/11/15 Finished this yesterday and let me tell you I was worried she wouldn't complete all the tasks near the end of the book but now I'm looking forward to see what Book 2 will bring to the table. So many more stories to be told.
