Am I the only one going through a review writing slump?
Ive read some great books the past 2 months but I have yet to write more than 3 reviews on said books. I guess Ive just been more in a "reading isolation" mood than a "writing dissection."
Every week I will list the books I'm reading or just finished with a short rating. For Example;
Pods by Michelle Pickett
Plot: 4/5 (great concept, poor execution)
Characters: 4/5
Cover: 2/5 (Too photo shopped)
Overall: 3/5
The goal of doing this is to let you know I'm alive as well as a way for me to keep track of what reviews I need to write.
What is you rating scale? Comment below please
TTFN,
Ashley

You don't have to review all the books you read, especially if you're reading a lot. I don't really write reviews on classics, older fantasy, or most books I'm reading for my classes, pretty much limiting my reviews to YA and the occasional non-YA fun read that I have.
ReplyDeleteYour mini-review stats sounds like a good feature, though. Maybe you can add a couple of lines about the book afterwards to add interest.
That rating scale is a good idea. I tend to weigh more heavily on characters and pacing because I think those elements can make or break a book.
Thanks for the insightful post! I miss hearing your thoughts on things; book things and life things included.

I think I will add like a mini synopsis so far of the book im reading, then include a cover as well.
DeleteI broke my scale down like that because I do base books by character and covers. So if the cover sucks (unattractive) but the character building is fantastic then I would want people to pick it up.
I will be posting more often since midterms are over for me. There will be a post monthly that isnt book related. Its a surprise that will be posted on Nov 1st
I know what you mean about the cover. Even if a book is good, it's hard to compete on a visual level, especially with so many eye-catching YA book covers coming out these days. And I've been fooled by an okay book with an amazing cover too. Haha.
DeleteThat works. :)
Yay, congrats on finishing your midterms! I'm just starting to reach the peak of my midterms.
