Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Turn-offs

This week's topic is about the things we encounter while we are reading and it totally turns you off. Different from the topic we did this summer about things that turn us off before we even START the book --topics/words that will make us NOT pick it up.

     1)      Ending too soon: I really get unnerved when I am at the last two chapters and there are still things that need wrapping up. Then those last two chapters are spent throwing information at you to end the book. This topic works mostly with standalones. It’s like if you can’t wrap it up in one book maybe it should be a series…maybe

    2)      Unneeded Love Triangles: If two people are working well together please don’t throw in that other guy/girl to add a little drama. It’s overrated and there are better ways to add a twist.

     3)      A Series: When I pick up a new book and by the time I finish it I`m told the book is a series. It makes me a little upset because I enjoy reading standalones sometimes. This isn’t always a bad thing though.

     4)      Abusive Relationships: I`m all for the sexy boys but when they start beating up their girlfriends I`m done. Same with parental relationships (i.e. Father hits mother/daughter)

Whelp I only have four turn-offs that I can think of that will make me not want to read the book.

TTFN,
Ashley

  1. Glad I haven't read an abusive relationship book yet. It would be a turn off for me as well. My TTT

  2. Omg. I totally forgot about stories that end too abruptly, leaving too many unanswered questions and loose ends. >:O They make me go like, "Wha...Where did the story go?" -___- It's like an Aristotelian plot line, except the story rolls over and snores right after the climax.

What do you mean by an abusive relationship book, like in Fifty Shades? Is it an abusive relationship that's marketed as a romantic one?
