Blogging Manifesto

Please note: I am inspired by and have taken liberally from the blogging manifesto at The Perpetual Page-Turner. Some of what I am writing here is taken word for word from this post, and I want to say thanks to The Perpetual Page-Turner for the inspiration and content. It was written so well, I couldn’t come up with better words than those written there. Please check out The Perpetual Page-Turner‘s My Blogging Manifesto. http://www.perpetualpageturner.com/2011/04/my-blogging-manifesto.html#comment-146850

Our first date 2011

Our Blogging Manifesto:
Our blog will not define us. It is merely an extension of who we are as people.

We will do what we can, when we can and if we can — real life comes first.
We will always blog with integrity in a way that we can be proud of.
Passion, honesty and uniqueness — the cornerstones of this space.
We will not allow ourselves to become involved in drama or negativity as it accomplishes nothing.
When issues in blogging arise, We will look at both sides and only participate in constructive discussions that will lead to understanding.
We will never allow blogging to become a burden. It’s a hobby that we both enjoy.
We will take breaks the moment it becomes a chore.
We will never take shortcuts to grow the blog nor will we obsess over its growth (Ashley)
We will be happy with the followers we have, the stats and will not compare our blog  to others.
We will not be concerned with how other blogs operate, no matter how much we disagree with it, We will only worry about how we`re blogging and that we are being true to ourselves.
We will treat our readers kindly because they keep our spirits high.
Above all, We will blog because We love to read and share that love with others.

  1. "We will be happy with the followers we have, the stats and will not compare our blog to others." That's probably a big one. There's nothing that demotivates you more than to compare your own blog with a blog that has been around longer or has more followers. Just do your own thing. I think your manifesto is a great way to stay healthy and well-rounded while blogging!

    1. I follow a few other blogs that have sort of the same guidelines and with me being in school and Sean working constantly I felt like some rules would be a good thing to have so we didnt get stress out or fight about blog stuff. Its an outlet for us both even if we aren`t together anymore.

I do fine myself comparing stats lately because nothing is more annoying then when bigger bloggers complain about having too many books to read that a publisher sent them when I am like "hey over here me the tiny blog will review your book and spread lots of book love about it..pick me"

      thanks for stopping by

    2. It's totally hard to balance all that with blogging. I'm glad you two have that outlet - a project to work on together.

Oh geez, I know what you mean. I think your blog is great because it feels like an extension of you two as people. Sometimes larger blogs tend to feel a bit impersonal after a while, especially if they stop replying to comments. Have you tried Netgalley? I've gotten quite a few e-ARCs from them. Your blog has been up for a while and you've posted consistently, so you would definitely get a lot!

It is a lot easier to read e-ARCs if you have an ,e-reader though. But you can read them on smart phones too.
