Synopsis:
Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it's taken away. All of it.
The Keeper understands. He's trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation.
Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest.
But there is a cost.
The Keeper likes to keep things.
Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late.

A retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. This use to be my favorite story as a little girl which is why I signed up for ballroom dance and ballet. Now I don`t dance anymore but this story still is amazing. Entwined spent the first 160 pages setting the background of how the Twelve Princesses came to be called the Dancing Princesses. Azalea is an amazing older sister to all of her family. She runs a huge manor and looks after every minor detail after her mother`s unfortunate passing. This was a book I was able to finish is two sittings because of how it flowed. I learned what the process of mourning was and how a father could bend rules to make everyone on his daughters hate him and care about him. The keeper needed to be punched in the face even though he was a dazzling man.

I am not familiar with this particular fairy tale, but I'm glad to hear you liked this retelling overall, coming from the point of view of a fan of the original!
ReplyDeleteThe Twelve Dancing Princesses isn`t a fairytale that was widely read where I lived but, something about it made me want to dance and have sisters. Sadly I am an only child but I was able to dance for 5 years.
