Seven Point Eight: Second Chronicle Tour

Yay my Second book Tour I get to participate in. My portion of the tour was an interview and review. Another sci-fi genre book. I couldn't pass up time travel and the fact this was written in a TV Series type writing. Sounds interesting I know. Makes you want to pick up the two books and start reading.

My Review:
 Book One:  What I liked

No new languages you'll have to learn. If you understand and appreciate quantum physics, you'll love this book and not want to put this one down. And when you get to the end, it will be as if someone unexpectedly kicked you off a cliff. You'll be left hanging.

Not only will the author have you wondering about `Is there a God? or `What is the meaning of life?' But she'll have you wondering who Ava Kavanaugh really is and who is Sam. Let me tell you why.

First the writer takes you into the 1940s where Paul Eldridge is delivering a speech on quantum physics. There you meet Max Richardson who questions him about the soul.

Book Two: The reason for this Tour

I finished both books in less than three days, yes that is how good tis series is. My boyfriend suggested reading it since he asked for book one for his birthday. This series keeps getting better. I was beyond happy when I knew I had book two right at my feet after finishing book one or else I would have been upset having to wait.
This book focuses on all things geeky and sci-fi that no one every gets to see unless I am with my two close friends. Well written and slightly different than what I am use to due to it being a "tv series." I could see this being made into one if the right actors do it. Book Three is needed because I am now omitted to the series.

Interview with Marie Harbon:

Q:Please tell us and our readers a little bit about yourself.
A:I’m a UK based author who writes mainly in the science fiction, fantasy, and
paranormal genres, although I may break that rule from time to time. Apart from
writing, my greatest passions also include fabric and stitching; I create bags, corsets
and clothing in the vintage, retro and alternative style.

Q:What was your inspiration behind ‘Seven Point Eight’?
A:It amalgamates all the things that interest me and that I’ve read about, including
psychic powers, the universe, ancient wisdom and technology, quantum physics,
mysticism, conspiracy, the universe. I wanted to create a highly ambitious series that
encompasses life, the universe and everything, in an epic story revolving around five
principal characters.
The concept revolves around visiting other worlds via the power of the mind, so you
don’t need your physical body. Through consciousness alone, it’s possible to explore
not only the universe, but your own spiritual heritage. The series involves a group
of extraordinary people, and their quest for the meaning of life, the universe, and
everything.

Q:How many Chronicles will there be?
A:There are five in all. The First Chronicle came out about eighteen months ago, The
Second Chronicle has just been released, and The Third Chronicle is scheduled for
next year, no specific release day yet.
Each book will feature a main character on the cover, with the story involving them
in a significant way. The first book depicted Tahra, as she is the key to beginning this
whole journey in many ways, while the second one depicts Max, because I think his
story arc is central to the action in the story, and links the character in a very dark
and sinister way.
The Third Chronicle will feature Ava and in this book, her purpose and secrets will be
revealed, as will her enemies and allies. I have something really wonderful planned
for her, although it’ll change her life in ways she may regret. The Fourth Chronicle
focuses on Paul to a large degree, because there’s a chunk of his life he hasn’t told
us about, and it will be pretty explosive for the people concerned. Finally, The Fifth
Chronicle concludes with the focus on Sam, his demons and dilemmas, plus, it wraps
up all the story threads and mysteries running throughout the series.
I have some great story arcs lined up for all the characters, they’d better hold onto
their hats!

Seven Point Eight: The Second Chronicle
Excerpt 3

Through an archway to the left of me, a figure I barely recognised emerged. Her
energy body was dark like old red wine and her limp hair hung around her sallow
face, accentuating her black eyes, and the dark circles beneath them. She looked
emaciated, and her energy body appeared scarred and somewhat distorted. I realized
in horror who this sad creature may be.
“Emilie?”
She didn’t respond to her name, and at that moment, I felt simply confused.
“This isn’t Emile,” I protested.
The torture master relished my shock and disbelief.
“Oh, but it is. I promised you Emilie, and Emile you have.”
I felt out of body tears well up in my eyes in frustration.
“You lied, this isn’t Emilie. You tricked me into returning, coming back here for
nothing. You cheated!”
He laughed, and I hated him for his sense of superiority.
“As I said, let’s hope there’s still something for you to save.”
She walked over to me, but not in friendship or as someone pleased to see me.
Her red pupils locked onto mine, an unexpected deep hatred for me lurking behind
her eyes.
“What have you done to her?” I asked the torture master.
He grinned again, and I wished I could knock the smile off his face as it made me
feel nauseous.
“We have merely shown her the power that comes from pain. Pain cuts deep;
it reaches our innermost fears and desires. You should hope that Emilie does not
carry any grudges against you, what lies in the subconscious will now emerge, to be
gloriously embraced.”
At this point, I began to worry.
The background noise in the arena quieted now, as if someone had rapidly
turned down the volume control. I couldn’t back out, however disgusted I felt with
the whole thing. While the torture master hadn’t been entirely truthful, I still had no
choice, because there was a chance, the smallest chance that there was something
worth saving.
A rumbling sound filled the air and as it reached a crescendo, I distinctly heard a
drum roll. Looking around for the drummer, I eventually spotted a giant skull with the
top cut off. Skin had been stretched over the space, and one of the thresher dwarves
beat it with all four arms.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
He struck it hard, and the vibrations reached into my extra-dimensional bones.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The audience banged their staffs on the ground, in time to the rhythm.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
“Let the first rite begin,” the torture master said. “This is the essence of rivalry
and competition. It is a battle to attain dominion with the utmost violence, and
subjugate the opponent into a painful submission. The rite will teach you to give and
receive the ecstasy of pain, so that you may taste its fruits for the first time.”
I didn’t want to fight Emilie, but to get her out of here I had no other option.
Someone threw an array of weapons into the arena: spiked clubs, long spears,
skewers, long and circular saw blades, leather gloves studded with razor blades,
spiked knuckle dusters, and hooked knives. She almost salivated over the selection of
implements, while I looked at them in horror.
“Fight!” came the call.
